Joel Villa joins Syntonics as Vice President of Business Development

COLUMBIA, MD. 30 November 2020 . . . Syntonics LLC, a leading provider of advanced technology RF products, is pleased to announce that Joel Villa has joined the Syntonics Leadership Team as Vice President, Business Development.

Mr. Villa will lead Syntonics’ efforts to expand current product sales into new applications and markets, while maintaining Syntonics’ commitment to address evolving customer needs with innovative solutions.  He brings to Syntonics 16 years of experience in business development and product development spanning commercial and government sectors in domestic and international environments. Syntonics’ business model is to use R&D projects and university partnerships to create new products and develop technologies, which are then commercialized. Syntonics provides advanced RF-over-Fiber systems and innovative RF technologies for military, civil, and industrial markets. FORAX™ (“Fiber Optic Remote Antenna eXtension”) RF-over-Fiber radio communications systems are deployed around the world in 24×7 mission critical operations. FORAX-HARC (High Antennas for Radio Communications) RF-over-Fiber radio range extension systems are deployed today with the US Armed Forces and allied Armed Forces. Our HARC – Tethered Drone product line is a natural evolution of FORAX-HARC and Is growing with recent procurement by both US and International customers.

Prior to joining Syntonics, Joel was based in Warsaw, Poland and served as Regional Director for Central and East Europe for Sikorsky Aircraft Company, a Lockheed Martin company. Before Sikorsky, Joel was Senior Director for International Business with Ultralife Communications Systems, a leading manufacturer of tactical communications equipment, and the Vice President for Central and East Europe for ITT Defense International based out of Warsaw, Poland. He was responsible for leading the sales efforts for ITT Defense in Communications, Electro-optics, Electronic Warfare, Avionics, RADAR and Satellite Imagery.

Joel also has experience in training and consulting with the top defense companies in the U.S. as a senior business development consultant with Mastering Business Development, Inc. He taught pursuit strategy, portfolio development, and consulted on sales organization building and the functional process of business development.

Before his business development roles, Joel served a total of 21 years in various U.S. government functions with the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Army. He served in various leadership positions with assignment to U.S. Embassies in Budapest, Hungary; Santiago, Chile; La Paz, Bolivia; and various other stations in Europe, Latin America, and the U.S.

Joel earned his MBA from California State University, a bachelor’s degree from Troy State University, and a Six Sigma Certificate from the University of Michigan.
