This Phase I SBIR is investigating a “Pixel-Addressable Reconfigurable Conformal Antenna” (PARCA). A senior researcher at OSU/ESL who frequently works with Syntonics on its antenna projects conceived the proposed technical approach. If successful, PARCA will enable thin, conformal antennas that can reconfigure themselves in fractions of a second to electronically point their beam and vary their operating frequency. Syntonics anticipates the PARCA technology will be practical, after further development, for the rigorous in-orbit environment.

Our proposed PARCA antenna, already the subject of a patent disclosure, represents a radical departure from traditional approaches to electronic antenna steering."
